Despite the diplomatic measures, international efforts, mediation of the NAM, and actions of the Red Cross, the Iraqi government refused to liberate him. International news sources reported that he was tortured and suffered bleeding and his condition was deteriorating. The date and quality of this martyr's testimony is unknown. Four thousand eighty days after the captivity, his body was returned to Iran with pride and honor.
