Abstract
Background and Aim: The right to health is one of the examples of human rights that are recognized based on the Covenant of Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights. This study aimed to examine the approach of the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights Committee concerning the management of epidemic diseases, particularly in the context of the spread of the Corona pandemic.
Methods: This study was descriptive and analytical. The materials and data are qualitative, and data collection methods were used to gather materials and data.
Results: The findings showed that one of the dimensions of the right to enjoy the highest attainable standards of health is the management of epidemic diseases. Clause (3)2 of Article 12 of the Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights specifies that one of the steps to be taken to enjoy this right is the necessary measures to prevent, treat and control epidemics.
Conclusion: Although the committee pays special attention to this obligation during the outbreak of Corona and makes detailed recommendations in this regard, at other times, this aspect of the right to health is neglected by the committee.
